Accreditations & Recognitions

Regional accrediting bodies such as the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools (Commission on Colleges) accredit the institution as a whole. SACS/COC is formally recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to represent national interests in institutional accreditation. SACS/COC is required and essential for KSU’s operation. In addition, a number of national organizations and state agencies review, approve, recognize, and accredit one or more specific degree programs. Such program accreditations and recognitions constitute another form of comprehensive program review and contribute to quality enhancement as well as continuous improvement. In some instances they are required, but in many of these programs accreditations are elective.
